About the Event

Join CNAS on Wednesday, June 24, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET for a live event on China’s AI capabilities and the risks to U.S. national security.

China’s leading developers are producing sophisticated AI systems that rival their American competitors. Beijing is deploying these systems to strengthen its military, expand its surveillance apparatus, and accelerate its economic ambitions at home and abroad. With each new advance, the implications for U.S. national security grow more complex and wide-ranging.

This event will feature an expert panel examining the trajectory of China’s AI capabilities and how U.S. policy should respond, including Saif Khan, distinguished technology fellow, Institute for Progress; Emily Weinstein, director, technology and innovation, U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission; Daniel Remler, senior fellow, Technology and National Security Program, Center for a New American Security (CNAS) moderated by Ashley Gold, senior tech policy reporter, Axios.

The event will mark the release of a new CNAS report, Red Lines: Understanding the National Security Risks of China’s Advanced AI, which assesses the capabilities and trajectory of China’s advanced AI models, provides a framework for understanding the risks to national security, and outlines actionable recommendations for a stronger U.S. analytical capacity and response.

Live viewers will have the opportunity to ask questions during the event.
